Description:
We will discuss FGFR family alterations as biomarkers across solid tumors, covering the spectrum of alteration types as well as key examples including urothelial carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, gastric adenocarcinoma, and thyroid carcinoma, to illustrate diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive/therapeutic roles. An emphasis will be placed on how the same gene family can carry different clinical significance depending on tumor context, alteration type, and testing modality.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the spectrum of FGFR family alterations (point mutations, fusions, amplifications, splice-site alterations).
- Differentiate the diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive roles of FGFR alterations across tumor types.
- Identify key testing modalities for FGFR family alterations (companion diagnostic PCR, NGS panels, FISH) and their appropriate clinical contexts.
