AMP Horizons Series: Enhancing COVID-19 Pandemic Response with SARS-CoV-2 Whole Genome Sequencing

CME and CMLE credits are not available for this webinar.

Description:

This presentation will describe viral mutations and SARS-CoV-2 whole genome sequencing (WGS) and describe how WGS is useful for outbreak response and strain surveillance. The presentation will describe current virus variants of concern, and explain how strain surveillance is needed to track virus mutations that may have effects on diagnostic tests, vaccine efficacy, and treatments.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe applications of SARS-CoV-2 whole genome sequencing
  • Summarize the current state of knowledge of major SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern
  • Describe approaches to SARS-CoV-2 strain surveillance in the U.S
